Il tesoro delle spade votive di Su Scusorgiu di Villasor (Cagliari)

Abstract

Viene presentato, per la prima volta integralmente, un ripostiglio di quaranta spade votive in ottime condizioni di conservazione, una delle quali con impugnatura. I reperti vengono analizzati a fondo dal punto di vista tipologico e da quello dei confronti con altri contesti simili, con ipotesi sulle tecniche di fabbricazione e sull’inquadramento cronologico. La problematica delle spade votive e le molteplici relazioni con i bronzetti viene riepilogata, specialmente in riferimento al simbolismo di questa peculiare forma di arma nuragica.

A hoard with 40 votive swords in good condition, one handle still preserved, is presented for the first time entirely. The weapons are thoroughly analysed from the typological point of view, as well as compared with similar findings, and hypothesis on the technology of production and on the chronology are suggested. The  several connections between the votive swords and the bronze figurines are summarized, with special reference to the symbolism of this peculiar Nuragic weapon.
